That seem awfully complicated and the method isn't EA supported. There must be a way of not reinstalling selected packs

It actually isn't complicated I found this to be much easier in disabling packs, since at the moment there isn't a toggle function to do so unfortunately in disabling and you can't uninstall it from origin either since it only shows the base game. (Thought at one point you'd be able to like the sims 3 but i don't even see that available anymore for the game to do individually)
James Turner from the sim supply simplified it even more with this easy little tool. No need to download just click on the icons on which packs you want to disable and just copy and paste it as Rosemow mentioned so you don't have to take the time to type it out. All packs there except for Laundry Day for the moment.

Problem is he probably only supports the Windows OS. I would think you could turn off Automatic Update and it would allow you to choose what to install.Second Star to the Right and Straight on 'til Morning.
